Dr. Varughese is our newest addition to the Heart Center of North Texas. Prior to joining the Heart Center of North Texas, Dr. Varughese was part of the Congestive Heart Failure Team at Baylor All Saints Hospital working with the surgical team to develop a mechanical circulatory support system for patients in Tarrant County. He was born and raised in Dallas and has always considered North Texas to be his home. During his time volunteering at Methodist Dallas Medical Center he developed his desire to get involved in medicine. He completed his Internal Medicine training at Methodist Dallas Medical Center and was chief resident for his final year of residency. After experiencing the loss of a close family member to heart disease he realized his true passion remained in the world of Cardiology. He completed his fellowship in General Cardiology at Plaza Medical Center in Fort Worth, Texas. From there he decided to expand his cardiovascular background and specialize in Advanced Heart Failure/Mechanical Circulatory Support. He finished his Advanced Heart Failure Training at the Texas Heart Institute in Houston, Texas. Dr. Varughese feels that his accomplishments and contributions are derived from his devotion to Cardiology. He attributes these accolades to his in-depth training. After his time in Houston, Dr. Varughese returned to North Texas to provide care to the community he calls home. He lives in Fort Worth, Texas with his loving wife. In addition to providing quality care to his patients, Dr. Varughese is a fervent supporter of his favorite team, the Dallas Mavericks.

Dr. Varughese was recently interviewed by NBC DFW Channel 5 for a story regarding the FDA looking into dramatically lowering the nicotine levels in cigarettes.

Dr. Varughese is Board Certified in Cardiovascular Disease and Internal Medicine. He belongs to several professional organizations to include the American College of Cardiology, Texas Medical Association, the International Society for Heart & Lung Transplantation, American Osteopathic Association, Heart Failure Society of America, American College of Osteopathic Internists and the American College of Physicians.
