About Dr. Akhtar

 

Nasim Akhtar, M.D., F.A.C.C


Dr. Akhtar has practiced Cardiology in Fort Worth for the last 37 years.  He graduated from Notre Dame College in Dacca and from King Edward Medical College in Lahore, Pakistan, where he graduated with honors.   Immediately upon Graduation from medical school he moved to Pennsylvania where he interned at Crozier Chester Medical Center.  Dr. Akhtar then went on to complete his Internal Medicine Residency at the Graduate Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.  He was a Cardiology Fellow there also and then completed his Cardiology Fellowship at Baylor Hospital in Dallas.  This was followed by an additional year of Cardiology research at the Vetrans' Administration Hospital in Washington, D.C. where he published several articles.  Dr. Akhtar has been on the faculty of the University of Pennsylvania and the Osteopathic Medical School here in Fort Worth.  He was Chief of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at Philadelphia General Hospital.  He has served the hospitals where he attended patients with numerous committee appointments, including Chief of Staff at Plaza Medical Center.  He is presently Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Plaza Medical Center.

 

Dr. Akhtar is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and the American Heart Association.  He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and the sub-specialty Board of Cardiovascular Disease.

 

Dr. Akhtar is particularly interested clinical cardiology and the diagnosis of cardiovascular disease.  He has offices in Fort Worth and Granbury.
